Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Space and Defense)

Location: Onsite in Santa Barbara, California, United States; approximately 10–15% travel required.

Salary: $135,000–$185,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, code, debug, and integrate capabilities for turreted weapons systems.
• Debug issues in existing embedded systems and support system improvements.
• Integrate new capabilities in the Systems Integration Lab and in field environments.
• Design and architect software for scalability, performance, and modularity.
• Deliver executable software and documentation meeting quality, performance, and contractual requirements.
• Provide project status updates to management.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience designing, developing, and testing embedded real-time control software; 7+ years preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, software, or another engineering discipline with relevant experience.
• Proficiency in C; Java experience is a plus.
• Experience with operating systems, especially RTOS; bare-metal and embedded Linux experience is a plus.
• Experience with communication protocol drivers and stacks, including networking, 1553, UART, SPI, and I2C.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance and access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with Unix internals, low-level driver software, communication interface software, or GUI software.
• Additional relevant technical experience in real-time control software.
