Senior BI Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid in the United States, with onsite work in Windsor Mill, Maryland one to two days per week and additional attendance as required.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise data, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, analysis, and reporting.
• Work with large-scale databases and data platforms to integrate, transform, and analyze data.
• Develop and support dashboards, reports, datasets, and visualizations using Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, or comparable tools.
• Use Python to support data processing, analysis, transformation, validation, scripting, and automation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to translate reporting requirements into reliable data solutions and troubleshoot performance, quality, and integration issues.

Requirements

• Must reside in and be able to work in the United States.
• Must have lived in the United States for at least three of the last five years to qualify for the required public trust clearance process.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, database development, or a related field.
• Strong SQL and Python experience, including complex data querying, transformation, validation, analysis, and automation.
• Experience with enterprise databases or data platforms, BI and visualization tools, Agile development, Jira, and GitHub.

Nice to have

• Experience with Informatica, Hadoop, Hive, Unix/Linux, R, cloud data platforms, data lakes, lakehouses, or dimensional modeling.
• Knowledge of API-based integration, CI/CD, data governance, data security, metadata management, or data quality practices.
• Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning, AI-enabled data solutions, or federal government and healthcare data environments.
• Certifications related to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, data engineering, databases, or analytics.

Hiring process
