Flight Test Engineer Intern (Summer 2027) (Aerospace)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, USA; regular onsite support is required and full-time remote work is not available.

What you will do

• Fly onboard experimental aircraft as a trained test crewmember alongside test pilots.
• Operate cabin experimental provisions and mission-specific test instrumentation while conducting tests and recording results.
• Support test planning, readiness, execution, technical reviews, test instructions, limitations, and post-flight reporting.
• Coordinate test aircraft and experimental equipment configurations with engineering, maintenance, instrumentation, project management, and other disciplines.
• Design and develop safety-critical real-time data displays and derived parameters.
• Apply safety and risk-mitigation procedures and comply with FAA and Transport Canada regulations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
• Ability to learn quickly and work with significant volumes of data and information.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, coordination, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work with varied IT tools and equipment in a technically challenging environment.
• Ability to provide regular onsite support in Wichita, Kansas, USA.

Nice to have

• Previous flying experience as a pilot or other crew member.
• Programming experience for automation and workload reduction.
