Principal Software Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Helsinki and Berlin team locations; relocation assistance is available for international candidates.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, development, and quality of department data products.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines with Databricks Delta Live Tables.
• Define and align data contracts with source-system owners.
• Implement data governance and security standards in Unity Catalog.
• Perform technical and root-cause analysis to improve data quality and pipeline reliability.
• Collaborate with development teams and the hirify.global Data Foundation while documenting working methods and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Databricks, including Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, and Workflows.
• Deep understanding of Medallion Architecture and Delta Lake internals.
• Strong Python and Apache Spark/PySpark skills for large-scale data processing.
• Several years of experience building scalable streaming and batch pipelines using CDC from relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, Git, trunk-based development, DevOps principles, AWS, REST APIs, and secure data exchange.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including accurate technical documentation.
