Sr. Director, Translational Medicine Lead, Autoimmune (Autoimmune)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; 70% in-office work model

Salary: $196,700–$353,400 per year, plus potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Lead clinical-facing translational strategy for complex autoimmune programs and business-critical assets.
• Define evidence-generation strategies covering mechanism, biological activity, therapeutic window, differentiation, and technical success.
• Shape portfolio and modality strategy across immune tolerance, immune reset, durability, relapse, and non-response.
• Establish clinical biomarker and translational technology approaches using flow cytometry, functional assays, immune repertoire analysis, transcriptomics, proteomics, serology, genetic analysis, and tissue-based methods.
• Integrate PK/PD and exposure-response frameworks with target engagement, immune-cell effects, safety, and clinical outcomes.
• Mentor scientific leaders, influence governance decisions, lead external scientific engagement, and build translational capabilities across programs.

Requirements

• PhD, MD, MD/PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree in immunology, autoimmune disease, translational medicine, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant scientific and drug-development experience after advanced training.
• Track record leading translational strategy for multiple clinical-stage immune-mediated or autoimmune programs.
• Deep expertise in human immunology, autoimmune disease mechanisms, adaptive and innate immunity, T-cell regulation, B-cell biology, autoantibodies, antigen presentation, and inflammatory signaling.
• Extensive experience with clinical biomarker strategy and biomarker-rich clinical trials, including translating complex datasets into development decisions.
• Employment is based in the United States and may involve access to U.S. export-controlled information; eligibility may depend on U.S. person status or an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience across multiple autoimmune diseases or therapeutic modalities.
• Expertise in antigen-specific tolerance, Treg biology, B-cell depletion, immune-cell engineering, or immune reprogramming.
• Experience with first-in-human immunomodulatory therapies, mRNA therapeutics, or lipid nanoparticle delivery.
• Experience developing cross-program biomarker platforms and supporting regulatory interactions.
• Strong external scientific network and publication record in autoimmune disease or human translational immunology.
