Principal Systems Engineer (Defense)

Location: Hanscom AFB, Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; onsite role with limited travel as needed

Salary: $145,000–$160,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Provide systems engineering support across requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, sustainment, and disposal.
• Translate operational and functional requirements into technical requirements and maintain traceability through subsystem specifications.
• Develop structural, behavioral, and parametric architectures using SysML and MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw.
• Drive interoperability and mission integration across the Department of the Air Force Battle Network, program offices, weapon systems, and mission partners.
• Conduct trade studies, capability risk assessments, verification planning, and test and evaluation strategy development.
• Prepare ICAM strategies, technical briefings, engineering documentation, acquisition artifacts, and recommendations for government leadership.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and able to work at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts.
• Must hold and maintain an active Top Secret clearance and be SCI eligible.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred, with 20+ years of experience including 12+ years of Department of Defense experience.
• Experience with DoD and USAF systems engineering, acquisition lifecycle processes, DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5000.75, and the systems engineering V-model.
• Experience with system-of-systems architecture, UAF or DoDAF, requirements development, MBSE, SysML, and digital engineering ecosystems.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with DOORS or Jira for requirements management.
• Knowledge of ICAM, cloud-based systems, Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps, DevOps, modeling and simulation, and cost-performance analysis.
