Senior Patient Access Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - St Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio, United States

Salary: $18.65–$19.90 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform admitting and patient access duties for hospital patients while following organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, complete medical necessity and compliance checks, process physician orders, and collect demographic and insurance information.
• Pre-register patient accounts, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, select insurance plan codes, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain and obtain signatures for treatment consents, Medicare and Tricare notices, observation forms, and other required patient documents.
• Use Advanced Beneficiary Notice software to screen medical necessity and inform Medicare patients about potential non-payment.
• Audit patient accounts, correct documentation issues, prepare statistical reports, and provide data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• Must work onsite at the specified medical center in Lima, Ohio.
• 2–3 years of experience in patient access or a leadership role.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, denials, insurance verification, authorizations, and benefits.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements, medical terminology, CPT codes, or procedure codes.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) and/or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR); certifications are company paid.
• Openness to innovation, including using AI to improve processes and patient and client experiences.

Nice to have

• Associate degree, preferably in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
