Associate Director, Hedge Fund Accounting

Location: New York City, United States (hybrid)

Salary: $91,000–$190,000 USD per year, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of alternative investment fund clients and oversee engagement timelines and deliverables.
• Review governing documents, investment transactions, workpapers, management fee calculations, investor allocations, capital activity, and distribution waterfall models.
• Oversee financial statements, supporting schedules, client deliverables, review controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate year-end audits with clients, auditors, and internal tax teams.
• Coach, mentor, and develop accounting professionals through technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Build client relationships, support business development, and contribute to departmental operational improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 8–10+ years of accounting experience, including significant experience with alternative investment funds.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and other comprehensive bases of accounting, particularly investment partnerships.
• 3–5+ years of experience leading and developing accounting professionals.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and client engagements in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, coaching, relationship management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
