Backend Engineer (AI Fintech)

Location: Remote, candidates must already be based in China

What you will do

• Build backend services and APIs for onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, transfers, rewards, travel, foreign exchange, KYC, and risk flows.
• Design reliable systems for real customer transactions, operational workflows, and future financial products.
• Integrate internal systems, financial partners, payment providers, AI services, and third-party platforms.
• Own backend quality across reliability, security, latency, observability, data integrity, and incident handling.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, mobile, and AI teams to launch features safely and quickly.
• Simplify existing systems, remove manual work, and automate repeatable processes.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Good understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, authorization, queues, jobs, events, and integrations.
• Experience building services used by real customers or internal operations at meaningful scale.
• Strong debugging, reliability, security, and data quality mindset.
• Ability to balance speed, correctness, scalability, and maintainability in practical trade-offs.
• Strong English communication is required; English is the main working language.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, wallets, KYC, fraud, or risk.
• Evidence of personally building, shipping, or scaling a serious product, platform, or system.
