Principal Electrical Engineer (Connected Medical Devices)

Salary: $124,500–$236,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead electrical and electronic design for drug-delivery systems, connected devices, and electromechanical medical products.
• Define user needs, requirements, concepts, system architectures, and technology assessments.
• Evaluate sensing, power, embedded electronics, communications, PCB designs, components, and subsystem integration.
• Develop connected-device architectures using Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, mobile applications, cloud environments, and remote monitoring platforms.
• Support integration, reliability assessment, verification, validation, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and product launch activities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, mechanical, clinical, regulatory, quality, operations, suppliers, and external development partners.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline with typically 10+ years of relevant experience, or MS with typically 8+ years.
• Experience developing medical devices, drug-device combination products, or regulated electromechanical systems from concept through launch.
• Expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design, embedded systems, microcontrollers, circuit design, PCB design and review, component selection, and design for manufacturability and testability.
• Knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART/RS-xxx, USB, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, and NB-IoT.
• Experience with design verification and validation, engineering documentation, risk assessments, FMEAs, and traceability in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of IEC 60601, IEC 60601-2-24, 21 CFR 820.30, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and related medical-device requirements.

• Experience with connected medical devices, digital health technologies, or wireless-enabled products.
• Experience working with external development partners, suppliers, and cross-functional product teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve design, analysis, prototyping, and testing.
