Underground Mechanic (Mining)

Location: Haile Gold Mine, South Carolina, United States; onsite underground and surface mine work

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on underground and surface mining equipment and light vehicles.
• Maintain Sandvik LHDs, drills and haul trucks; Normet utility equipment; Caterpillar and Komatsu loaders; and support vehicles.
• Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and CAN bus faults using OEM manuals, schematics, technical drawings, and diagnostic software.
• Complete field repairs in underground workings and return equipment safely to service while minimizing downtime.
• Maintain work orders, preventive-maintenance checklists, and equipment service records.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel, support reliability improvements, and assist with apprentice or junior mechanic training.

Requirements

• Previous underground mining maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of Sandvik, Normet, Caterpillar, and Komatsu equipment, underground support vehicles, and light-duty fleets.
• Ability to read OEM manuals, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team under demanding conditions, including confined underground spaces.
• Ability to work a 7-on/7-off schedule with day and night shifts, 12-hour shifts, and overtime as needed.
