Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Sequencing Instrument Platform)

Location: Singapore – Woodlands – NorthCoast; travel to the US is required for work purposes.

What you will do

• Develop new DNA sequencing equipment and genetic analysis platforms for life sciences and clinical markets.
• Translate product requirements into subsystem specifications and design precision electro-mechanical and fluidic mechanisms.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, stakeholders, project schedules, milestones, and outsourced design and manufacturing relationships.
• Perform mechanical, thermal, performance, cost, risk, and tolerance analyses.
• Create test plans, execute verification testing, and transfer new products into manufacturing.
• Investigate new architectures and technologies and resolve issues found during manufacturing and field deployment.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with more than five years of industry experience.
• Experience in product development, manufacturing transfer, and technical documentation.
• Proven experience designing robust electro-mechanical systems, including combinations of imaging, motion control, fluidics, and thermal control.
• Knowledge of form, fit, tolerance stack analysis, GD&T, drafting standards, FEA, design for assembly, and design for manufacturing.
• Experience with varied low-, medium-, and high-volume manufacturing processes, electromechanical component selection, and tolerance-budget optimization.
• Strong project management, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; fluent use of SolidWorks and one or more mechanical FEA packages.

Nice to have

• Experience with biomedical instruments, biological assays, or genetic analysis equipment.
• Experience in FDA-regulated markets.
