Principal Security Architect (Commercial Bank & Payments)

Location: Hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week at a U.S. hub location: Johnston, Rhode Island; Phoenix, Arizona; Irving, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; Westwood, Massachusetts; or Marlton, New Jersey. Remote work is not available.

Salary: $160,000–$205,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategies aligned with business objectives and cybersecurity goals.
• Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable frameworks across business, application, data, technology, and security domains.
• Champion secure-by-design principles and embed security controls into platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and operational processes.
• Advise on cloud transformation, infrastructure modernization, application development, data initiatives, and emerging technologies.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Security, architects, and business stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization.
• Communicate architectural recommendations, risk considerations, and regulatory guidance to technical and executive audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture roles with enterprise- or division-level leadership.
• Practical knowledge of TOGAF, SABSA, NIST, and related enterprise architecture methodologies.
• Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; DevOps, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and containers.
• Broad cybersecurity architecture experience covering identity and access management, encryption, secure network design, threat modeling, and security controls.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, bridge architecture and business strategy, and communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP, CCSP, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar certification.
• Experience in financial services, banking, payments, fintech, or another highly regulated industry.
