Systems Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, with two days per week onsite in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, or Reigate, United Kingdom

Salary: From £38,000 per year plus annual bonus and benefits

What you will do

• Build, support, and continuously improve secure, scalable, and reliable AWS platform services.
• Improve platform consistency and deployment efficiency using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Enhance AWS security, identity management, governance, compliance, and risk controls.
• Strengthen monitoring, observability, automation, operational resilience, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, security specialists, architects, and third-party technology partners.
• Develop engineering standards, documentation, reusable patterns, and cloud platform best practices.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience supporting and engineering AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of AWS networking and security services, including VPCs, Route 53, Security Groups, IAM, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and cloud-based operational support.
• Ability to work onsite two days per week from an Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, or Reigate office.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-account AWS environments, AWS Landing Zones, or AWS Control Tower.
• Knowledge of ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
• Experience integrating AWS environments with Microsoft Entra ID, plus exposure to Azure or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or banking.
