Senior Open Source Design Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote (United States)

Annual salary and variable compensation: $175,000–$200,000, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and build product experiences for Arize Phoenix across UI-driven and programmatic workflows.
• Create interactive visualizations for embeddings, traces, evaluation runs, and agent and tool workflows.
• Develop reusable design-system components and templates from concept through production.
• Build Agent Experience primitives, including interaction contracts, human-in-the-loop workflows, and agent-friendly interfaces.
• Prototype AI features for visualizing performance, surfacing anomalies, and explaining AI behavior in multi-step agent systems.
• Enable AI agents to query, navigate, and trigger evaluations within a shared workspace.

Requirements

• Strong frontend engineering skills with React and TypeScript.
• Design sensibility and deep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, and developer experience.
• Interest in AI systems, agents, evaluations, and observability.
• Ability to prototype quickly and iterate toward polished solutions.
• Attention to accessibility, performance, and craft.
• Experience or interest in open-source communities and async collaboration.
