DoW SkillBridge Fellowship - Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Pensacola, Florida, United States

Estimated full-time salary: $70,000–$135,600 annually. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Navy Federal during the fellowship and continue receiving military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

What you will do

• Scale AI solutions beyond experimentation and help move capabilities into production.
• Automate analysis of call transcripts, surveys, digital feedback, and other service interaction data.
• Implement generative AI, LLM, RAG, and intelligent automation solutions.
• Develop software programs, algorithms, models, and automated processes.
• Apply trend analysis, predictive modeling, forecasting, and experimentation techniques.
• Document and present findings while collaborating on team projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Eligibility: transitioning service members participating in the DoW/DoD SkillBridge program fellowship.
• Experience or knowledge in data science, AI and NLP, ML engineering, or data foundations.
• Knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling, forecasting, experimentation, or similar techniques.
• Experience with SQL, Python, APIs, ETL, data pipelines, or related data foundations.
• Knowledge of model lifecycle execution, technical communication, data storytelling, and presentations.
• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a similar quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, text analytics, deployment, monitoring, MLOps, or CI/CD.
• PySpark and familiarity with vector databases.
• Experience with Databricks, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, MLflow, or similar cloud tools.
