Data Engineer, Journeyman

Location: Georgia, United States; remote work permitted within the US.

Salary: USD $95,000–$105,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data from cloud-based sources.
• Build and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
• Perform backend SQL and NoSQL testing, data validation, post-deployment checks, and ingestion troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to define data models, workflows, and technical specifications.
• Develop scripts and automation to convert diverse data types and monitor cloud-based data platforms.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in data warehouse development and cloud-based analysis of aggregated data from multiple sources.
• At least 2 years of experience developing and maintaining scalable data stores for business analysis.
• Experience with SQL, Python, scalable ETL/ELT workflows, and Cloudera or Hadoop technologies.
• Experience with backend SQL and NoSQL database testing, post-deployment checks, and data validation.
• Bachelor’s degree and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Glue, AWS Athena, Postgres, Spark, Databricks, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka.
• Experience with real-time data, streaming applications, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux, shell scripting, and Agile engineering practices.
