Robotics Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on role and business needs.

Base salary: $94,280.13–$127,555.47 USD annually, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for new and legacy robotics products, including robot motion control, vacuum subsystem interfaces, and self-diagnostics.
• Design and maintain robotics software applications and infrastructure for machine and robot data collection, storage, analytics, and monitoring.
• Create intelligent diagnostics, visualization, and data-driven automation capabilities using machine learning and AI.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, product management, and customers to define product features, requirements, and design changes.
• Ensure software quality through modern development practices, automated testing, design reviews, and DevOps process improvements.
• Support manufacturing and field service engineers with remote or on-site investigation and troubleshooting of field issues.

Requirements

• Proficiency in C++11 or later and experience with Python.
• Experience developing embedded real-time systems in multithreaded and interrupt-driven environments such as QNX or Real-Time Linux.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, software development life cycles, revision control, remote debugging, and software release processes.
• Experience with robotics software, machine automation, or industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with machine learning, AI, data analytics, or data-driven software applications.
• Eligibility for employment in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, kinematics, dynamics, or motion planning.
• Experience developing data collection, visualization, or analytics solutions.
• Familiarity with machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Familiarity with cloud, edge computing, databases, or distributed data platforms.
• Experience working with customers on field issues or using JavaScript, MATLAB, or similar scripting languages.
