Senior Software Autonomy Engineer (AI)

Salary: $82,300–$245,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Design and develop autonomous behaviors for heterogeneous teams of autonomous vehicles across aerial, ground, underwater, and space domains.
• Evaluate requirements, propose solutions, explore design trade-offs, and develop algorithms using modern theory and proven techniques.
• Develop embedded software from prototype algorithms and integrate and test software with robotics platforms.
• Analyze system performance and functionality, execute software tests, and resolve causes of inefficient or incorrect behavior.
• Prepare technical documentation and communicate requirements, designs, and deliverables to customers and stakeholders.
• Track project priorities, scope, schedule, and cost while coordinating work with team members.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C, and C++.
• Knowledge of autonomy and GNC algorithms, real-time software development, control systems, trajectory optimization, and optimal control.
• Experience designing, developing, and validating real-time algorithms and software, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; Secret clearance is preferred.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and hybrid approaches combining deterministic autonomy algorithms with AI-based methods.
• Expertise in task and motion planning, optimization and resource allocation for large teams of autonomous systems.
