Receivables & Billing Accountant

Location: Remote, based in Chesterfield, Missouri, United States

Salary: $52,500–$70,000 per year

What you will do

• Apply and reconcile customer payments, research discrepancies, and resolve unapplied cash.
• Maintain customer accounts and ensure accurate billing, funding, receivable, and cancellation transactions.
• Analyze delinquent accounts, exceptions, variances, and outstanding items to support collections and timely resolution.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and recurring accounting reports for month-end close.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Partner with stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, improve processes, and strengthen internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Background in accounting, accounts receivable, cash application, collections, financial operations, or a related function.
• Knowledge of GAAP, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and accounting processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business systems used to manage financial data.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with month-end close and general ledger reconciliations.
• Familiarity with SAP, PBS, or similar accounting and billing platforms.
• Experience supporting audits, internal controls, or process improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of insurance, financial services, premium billing, or high-volume transaction environments.
• Progress toward a CPA, CMA, or another professional accounting designation.
