Financial Analyst II - Controller (Hybrid - Buffalo, NY)

Location: Hybrid position requiring four days per week in-office at One M&T Plaza, Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $62,200–$103,600 annual (USD)

What you will do

• Conduct technical research and prepare financial, tax, regulatory, and management information for senior management, regulators, auditors, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.
• Prepare complex financial schedules, reconciliations, bank regulatory reports, SEC reports, and internal management reports.
• Perform variance analysis, data interpretation, data integrity testing, and general ledger entries.
• Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls while identifying and escalating risk-related issues.
• Support timely reporting, audit remediation, regulatory compliance, and department deliverables.
• Train and support new team members and may lead projects of moderate scope.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience, or an associate's degree and at least four years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
• Good knowledge of finance and accounting concepts, business operations, bank products, and the banking industry.
• Strong PC skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must work in the Buffalo office four days per week in a hybrid arrangement.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future, including F-1 visa holders, will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience preparing and analyzing regulatory reports such as FR 2052a, FDIC 370, FR Y-15, CALL, and FR Y-9C.
• Experience with data visualization or data querying applications.
