Senior Software Engineer, Java (Systems and Scalability Engineering)

Location: Remote work is available only from the USA, specifically CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. Hybrid work is available through physical offices in Austin, Texas and Tampa, Florida. hirify.global cannot hire within the city limits of Chicago unless the candidate resides outside the city proper or is willing to self-relocate.

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, and New York.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable solutions and product improvements for the IT Operations platform.
• Develop high-quality Java and Kotlin software applications supporting millions of endpoints.
• Implement design patterns and ship enterprise-scale software in a hands-on engineering environment.
• Build high-availability, mission-critical services for worldwide operations.
• Apply quality-first engineering practices and collaborate with other software engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, scalable data structures, relational databases, and API best practices.
• Experience developing REST services with frameworks such as Jersey or Spring, client- and server-side systems, and responsive messaging.
• Expertise in quality testing practices; experience with Kotlin and Redis is valuable.
