Software Engineer III/Senior, Agent (Go)

Location: Remote for candidates outside the Bay Area; hybrid for candidates within commuting distance of San Francisco, with office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be based in the United States and legally authorized to work there.

Salary: Senior Software Engineer — $202,500–$247,500 in Tier 1 locations and $186,300–$227,700 in Tier 2 locations; Software Engineer III — $180,000–$220,000 in Tier 1 locations and $165,500–$202,400 in Tier 2 locations, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build the next-generation hirify.global Agent, including networking, integrations, and remote-management features.
• Design for latency, throughput, correctness, and safe failure behavior under network partitions, transient failures, misconfiguration, and resource constraints.
• Develop and maintain SDKs and embeddable Agent components that are stable and easy to integrate.
• Improve diagnostics, logging, and metrics to make Agent behavior observable in production.
• Ensure consistent behavior across developer laptops, servers, CI systems, containers, and varied hardware.
• Collaborate with product, platform, and support teams to investigate failures and improve developer experience.

Requirements

• Experience building systems-level software that operates reliably under pressure.
• Comfort with Go, Rust, C, C++, or Java; Go experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of reliability, security, and performance tradeoffs.
• Ability to debug complex failures and clearly explain technical decisions.
• Must be based in the United States and authorized to work there permanently without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with networking, proxies, or agents.
• Experience building SDKs or embeddable runtimes.
• Experience with observability tooling.
• Contributions to widely used open-source systems.
