Data Security Analyst (Palo Alto)

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, administer, and optimize Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls across data center, campus, branch, cloud, and remote-access environments.
• Manage centralized firewall policy, templates, device groups, high availability, configuration standards, upgrades, and operational governance through Panorama.
• Implement security policies covering least privilege, application awareness, identity, URL filtering, DNS security, threat prevention, decryption, and file blocking.
• Operationalize Cortex capabilities for security analytics, detection, investigation, automation, orchestration, and response.
• Investigate alerts, anomalous traffic, malware, data-exfiltration indicators, and firewall incidents while coordinating containment, recovery, and post-incident reviews.
• Partner with Cisco networking, cloud, infrastructure, application, SOC, incident response, governance, risk, compliance, and audit teams on security architecture and remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience; 10+ years in cybersecurity, network security, security engineering, or security operations.
• Deep hands-on experience administering Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls and Panorama in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Strata, Cortex or related XDR/EDR/SOAR/SIEM technologies, network segmentation, incident response, and threat hunting.
• Strong Cisco networking and security background, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, routing, switching, VPNs, VLANs, VRFs, BGP/OSPF fundamentals, and high availability.
• Knowledge of zero trust, least privilege, defense in depth, identity-aware access, encryption, logging, vulnerability management, and security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or SOX.
• Must be able to attain and maintain an AOUSC Public Trust.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Palo Alto or Cisco certifications, including PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
• Cloud networking and security experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, Panorama APIs, SIEM platforms, log pipelines, and vulnerability-management tools.
• Experience leading security projects, audit remediation, control modernization, or enterprise-wide firewall migrations.
