Health, Safety and Environment Site Lead (Research and Technology)

What you will do

• Lead the laboratory safety program for the Baton Rouge research and technology site.
• Plan and execute risk assessments, laboratory safety audits, and site walkthroughs.
• Investigate research and technology incidents and observations, and coordinate resolution of audit findings.
• Develop, update, implement, and communicate health, safety, and environmental policies, expectations, outcomes, and metrics.
• Support regulatory reporting, training, contractor management, and site HSE committee facilitation.
• Collaborate with individual contributors, managers, site leadership, corporate HSE, and the manufacturing-focused site HSE manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, occupational health, environmental science, public health, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in a laboratory-focused HSE role within chemical, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or oil and gas environments, preferably in research and development laboratories.
• Experience maintaining health, safety, and environmental compliance systems and working with laboratory regulations and best practices.
• Certified Safety Professional credential and formal training in root cause analysis facilitation.
• Proficiency in Louisiana state and US federal regulations, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Nice to have

• Certified Industrial Hygienist credential.
• Master’s degree in occupational safety, occupational health, environmental science, public health, or a related technical discipline.
• Seven or more years of laboratory-focused HSE experience.
• Certified Hazardous Material Manager credential and familiarity with chemistry fundamentals, research laboratory techniques, and associated hazards.
• Experience with SAP, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office tools.
