Senior Electrical Engineer (Metrology Systems)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; onsite with a flexible schedule. Work takes place in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and equipment-development environments, with occasional cleanroom work and travel.

Salary: $158,825.94–$224,411.07 per year

What you will do

• Design low-noise analog, mixed-signal, and digital control electronics for metrology systems.
• Develop custom PCBs from concept and schematic design through component selection, bring-up, validation, and release.
• Integrate power supplies, motion and temperature controls, optical instruments, safety circuits, and industrial sensors.
• Create electrical architectures, schematics, wiring and cable drawings, panel drawings, bills of materials, and test documentation.
• Build, test, troubleshoot, and release prototypes and production-intent systems, including failure analysis and manufacturing support.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, applications, service, and supplier teams while providing technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• BSEE or a related degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, MSEE with 5+ years, or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience developing electrical hardware from prototype through integration, validation, and release.
• Expertise in at least one area such as low-noise analog, mixed-signal electronics, embedded controls, precision instrumentation, industrial controls, motion, thermal control, or power systems.
• Experience with board-level circuit design, PCB bring-up, laboratory testing, hardware debugging, and complex electrical and electromechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to produce electrical drawings, design documentation, and test reports, work independently, and make technical decisions with limited direction.
• Strong written, verbal, and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SEMI standards, semiconductor equipment, metrology, precision automation, scientific instrumentation, or sensitive sensors.
• Knowledge of grounding, shielding, filtering, isolation, signal integrity, and EMI mitigation.
• Familiarity with embedded firmware, FPGAs, microcontrollers, programmable logic, and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with electrical panels, equipment wiring, regulatory compliance, design for manufacturing, and design for test.
• Experience working with PCB, cable, panel, or equipment suppliers.
