Senior Software Engineer I (AI)

Location: Ontario, Canada; remote-first

Salary: CAD 117,500–164,500 per year

What you will do

• Build and improve full-stack experiences for talent matching, talent rediscovery, and employer-facing discovery workflows.
• Design search-backed capabilities with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and ranking improvements.
• Develop matching systems using keyword, structured, and semantic signals, including embeddings, similarity search, classification, and ranking.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Applied ML, and engineering partners to define, evaluate, and launch product capabilities.
• Balance relevance, latency, reliability, infrastructure cost, maintainability, and user trust.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to engineering practices.

Requirements

• Legal eligibility to work in Canada is required as of the selected start date.
• 5+ years of experience writing production code.
• Production experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance trade-offs.
• Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails is preferred.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React, plus full-stack experience across APIs, data modeling, backend systems, and frontend development.
• Experience building search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems and applying AI/ML techniques in production.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytical databases.
• Ruby on Rails experience.
