Senior Software Engineer (C++/Rust)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, United States

Salary: $190,000–$300,000 annual base salary, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

hirify.global is a nonprofit organization supporting the development of the Stellar blockchain network and equitable access to the global financial system.

What you will do

• Design and build key components of Stellar Core, the backbone software behind the Stellar Network.
• Develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
• Design new architectures and subsystems with engineering leadership and open-source contributors.
• Own core subsystems, write maintainable code, and contribute to code reviews and engineering practices.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to improve network scalability.
• Write detailed technical feature and protocol RFC specifications.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Production experience with modern C++ or Rust.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and modular, reusable, extensible components.
• Strong communication skills for technical discussions, design, and code review.
• Experience with performance debugging and benchmarking.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
• Curiosity about blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies, with an understanding of their fundamentals.
