Legal Counsel (Blockchain)

Location: New York; remote within the United States

What you will do

• Draft and negotiate enterprise customer agreements, data licenses, partnerships, and vendor contracts.
• Define practical positions on data acquisition, permitted use, redistribution, derived data, AI use, IP, and post-termination rights.
• Advise Product and Engineering on privacy, intellectual property, regulatory, and partnership matters.
• Build legal templates, negotiation playbooks, approval guidelines, intake workflows, and a contract repository.
• Coordinate corporate governance, financings, employment, compliance, specialist counsel, and legal spend.
• Help business teams implement contractual and policy obligations.

Requirements

• Strong experience independently leading complex commercial negotiations for a technology, SaaS, financial data, or related business.
• Deep experience with data licensing or technology transactions, including IP rights, data use, confidentiality, liability, indemnification, and privacy provisions.
• Experience advising business teams directly and translating legal analysis into clear decisions.
• Experience building or improving legal templates, playbooks, and processes.
• Clear writing, strong negotiation skills, ownership, adaptability, and sound judgment.
• J.D. or equivalent legal qualification, active admission to a U.S. state bar, and eligibility to practice in-house in the role’s location.

Nice to have

• Experience in a small legal team or building a legal function.
• Background in financial market data, fintech, payments, AI, or blockchain products.
• Experience selling to financial institutions or sophisticated enterprise buyers.
• Privacy, product counseling, or public-sector contracting experience.
