TL;DR
Director, EMEA Government Affairs & Public Policy (Cybersecurity): Setting Chainguard’s European policy strategy and engaging governments, regulators, and standards bodies on cybersecurity regulation with an accent on the Cyber Resilience Act, NIS2, the EU AI Act, and UK policy. Focus on translating technical software supply chain security requirements into policy positions, customer implications, and product strategy while building the European government affairs function.
Location: Remote in Europe; must be based in Europe and able to travel frequently across the region

What you will do
- Set and own ’s European government affairs and public policy strategy.
- Engage governments, regulators, and standards bodies across Europe and the UK, including the European Commission, European Parliament, ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, and ETSI.
- Develop policy positions, consultation responses, written submissions, and public communications.
- Represent through direct advocacy, industry coalitions, and trade associations.
- Translate technical cybersecurity and software supply chain concepts into policy language and convert regulatory developments into implications for product, messaging, and customers.
- Build repeatable processes, relationships, and intelligence flows for the European government affairs function, with a path toward leading a team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of directly relevant government affairs or public policy experience in the public sector, a regulatory or standards body, or a comparable private-sector function.
- Experience building or expanding a government affairs program, regulatory initiative, standards effort, or policy strategy through to an outcome.
- Experience engaging senior officials and representing an organization credibly at a senior level.
- Ability to translate complex technical subject matter for policy audiences and communicate effectively with executives, engineers, and government stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments with minimal guidance.
- Based in Europe and able to travel frequently across the region.
Nice to have
- Policy or government affairs experience across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Fluency in one or more European languages in addition to English.
- Experience across both public- and private-sector government affairs.
- Familiarity with ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, ETSI, the Cyber Resilience Act, conformity assessment, and EU/UK lobbying transparency registers.
- Experience with cybersecurity, software supply chain security, AI, industry coalitions, or high-growth companies.
