Staff Field Engineer (Observability)

Location: Germany (Remote)

OTE compensation in Germany: EUR 137,000–164,000, plus Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

What you will do

• Support strategic deals and customer engagements by solving complex technical challenges with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects.
• Act as a recognized subject matter expert in a Grafana Platform area and build reference architectures across observability technologies.
• Create and maintain workshops, how-to guides, demo scripts, documentation, white papers, and other technical enablement content.
• Architect and maintain reliable, secure production infrastructure for demos, workshops, and proof-of-value environments.
• Influence product planning, help customers adopt new technologies, and represent Field Engineering at presentations, panels, webinars, and conferences.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Solution Engineers and Field Engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related technical experience, including 2+ years as a Senior Field Engineer or equivalent presales, SRE, developer, or architect experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of Grafana and related observability technologies such as Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, or Datadog.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one Grafana Platform area and advanced knowledge of an adjacent domain such as IoT or AI/ML.
• Experience creating technical training assets and partnering with Product Management and Engineering on field enablement and roadmap priorities.
• Experience with a modern programming language, Linux, software development lifecycle practices, debugging, and investigation.
• Ability to design cloud architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, serverless, and microservices technologies.

Nice to have

• Open source software development experience.
• Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code.
