Senior Data Platform Engineer - Enterprise Systems (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite headquarters environment

Base salary: $145,000–$210,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Define data architecture, ingestion, storage, and access patterns across transactional PostgreSQL systems and analytical warehouses.
• Conduct discovery with aerospace, manufacturing, operations, finance, sales, and software teams to design production-ready backend data tools.
• Build dbt-based data pipelines and modeling frameworks integrating telemetry, supply chain, factory-floor, and ERP data.
• Develop unified observability pipelines for structured logs, traces, and hardware telemetry across backend services and factory testbeds.
• Establish data governance, role-based access control, schema evolution, and migration strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software or data engineering experience focused on data infrastructure, data platforms, or backend engineering.
• Strong Python skills and solid software design fundamentals.
• Production experience with RBAC, data governance, schema evolution, and migration strategies.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL, OLTP workflows, columnar databases, BigQuery, and Snowflake.
• Experience with dbt and modern orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required for compliance with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating hardware, PLM, MES, or ERP platforms such as Altium, Arena, First Resonance ION, or NetSuite.
• Background in aerospace, automotive, robotics, or precision manufacturing.
• Experience with RESTful or gRPC APIs and cloud infrastructure including Docker, Kubernetes/GKE, or GCP.
