Software Developer Intern, Predictions Data & Decision Science (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid schedule requiring work from the downtown Toronto office 1–2 days per week. Internship/co-op terms last 8–16 months and begin in May or June 2027.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test solutions for forecasting, scheduling, prediction, and workforce management problems.
• Explore data, apply mathematical models and algorithms, and run experiments to evaluate potential solutions.
• Build prototypes and scalable, production-ready software from research and ideas.
• Experiment with AI and machine learning techniques for workforce planning and decision-making.
• Write maintainable code and automated tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to a cloud-based distributed environment.
• Collaborate with software engineering, data engineering, operations research, and product teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with familiarity with mathematics, statistics, or data analysis.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, C++, C#, or a similar language.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly, collaborate effectively, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work from the downtown Toronto office 1–2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with algorithms, data structures, mathematical modeling, optimization, statistics, or machine learning.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies, large language models, experiments, or data analysis.
• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, or Agile development.
• Exposure to scalable or distributed systems, optimization libraries, numerical computing, or scientific programming.

Hiring process

• Application review by Talent Acquisition and the hiring team.
• Zoom interview followed by meetings with the hiring manager and interview team.
