Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Search (AI)

Location: Atlanta, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $159,000–$208,950 USD annually, with potential bonus and stock incentives.

What you will do

• Design and operate intelligent search systems using typeahead search, vector search, and machine learning personalization signals.
• Build scalable serving architectures for machine learning and GenAI/LLM models.
• Develop platform capabilities such as CLI tools, SDKs, infrastructure automation, and platform applications.
• Drive technical strategy and adoption of ML and GenAI/LLM platform solutions across engineering teams.
• Own continuous integration and delivery of production data and ML systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, privacy, and cost efficiency.
• Set engineering standards and mentor engineers in system design, automation, data quality, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing software in Python, Java, or another core programming language.
• 4+ years designing scalable architectures for ML, search, or LLM workloads.
• 2+ years implementing vector search, semantic search, or embedding-based retrieval systems using technologies such as AWS OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Experience building ML and GenAI/LLM data pipelines and platform components, using streaming and data technologies such as Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, or Terraform.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, distributed systems, data structures, and production software engineering.
• Experience driving technical direction, conducting design reviews, influencing partner teams, and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with typeahead or autocomplete systems and ML-based query understanding or ranking.
• Experience combining vector search, typeahead, and personalization models.
• Experience deploying production ML and GenAI/LLM models with scalability and maintainability constraints.
• Experience with Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, SageMaker, Bedrock, Databricks, or LLM frameworks.
