What you will do

• Design and implement intelligent search systems, including typeahead and vector search, to optimize relevance and user experience.
• Build and scale multi-layer serving architectures for ML and GenAI/LLM models in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Drive the design and evolution of platform capabilities such as CLI, SDK, and infrastructure automation.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to productionize and validate AI-powered insights.
• Set engineering standards and mentor junior engineers in system design, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Own the CI/CD of production-grade ML systems focusing on scalability and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in core programming languages such as Python or Java.
• 4+ years of experience designing scalable software architectures for ML, Search, or LLM workloads.
• 2+ years of experience implementing vector search, semantic search, or RAG workflows using AWS OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with data streaming technologies including Spark, Flink, Kafka, and Airflow.
• Proven ability to drive technical direction and make architectural trade-offs across engineering teams.
• Must be based in New York City for a hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience with typeahead/autocomplete systems and integrating ML signals into ranking workflows.
• Experience combining multiple retrieval systems to improve search relevance.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow and GenAI platforms like SageMaker or Bedrock.
