Senior Principal Data Architect (Healthcare)

Location: Galway, County Galway, Ireland; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: €108,960–€163,440 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Define architecture, technology choices, and technical strategy for enterprise-scale healthcare data platforms within the Patient Care Systems ecosystem.
• Design scalable, secure, and compliant data capabilities for clinical data exchange, analytics, interoperability, and digital health solutions.
• Evaluate architecture options through proofs of concept, document technical risks and debt, and guide mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, privacy, regulatory, architecture, and platform teams to align solutions with business and architectural standards.
• Guide Agile delivery, design reviews, data transformation, integration, and the delivery of production-ready features.
• Advance data integration and interoperability practices using reusable patterns, standards, and scalable technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline with 15+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 13+ years.
• Experience with relational databases, big data solutions, distributed computing, data streaming, batch processing, and data transformation.
• Strong knowledge of platform-as-a-service offerings, cloud technologies, and configuration best practices; AWS experience is preferred.
• Ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and communicate effectively across technical and business groups.
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile.
• Experience troubleshooting data sets, formatting, coding, and data-intensive systems.

Nice to have

• Healthcare data platform architecture experience with HL7, FHIR, CDA, CCD, or related interoperability standards.
• HL7 or FHIR certification and experience with clinical data analysis, data mapping, and interface development.
• Experience with enterprise integration architecture, event-based messaging, OLTP, OLAP, microservices, containers, REST APIs, and big data.
• Knowledge of HIPAA security, privacy, and PHI/PII requirements.
