Senior Data Engineer

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and monitor reliable large-scale data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Rundeck or Airflow.
• Design performant data models and optimize complex SQL queries for distributed, columnar, OLAP, and relational databases.
• Build automated data quality checks and alerts to keep financial and operational reporting accurate.
• Automate repetitive tasks and create self-service tools that improve data access across teams.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.
• Translate business questions into practical, maintainable technical solutions with cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering in a data-centric environment.
• Experience owning end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion through transformation, testing, and monitoring.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with systems such as Redshift, Trino, Vertica, MySQL, or Postgres.
• Proficiency in Python and a software-engineering approach to testable, maintainable code.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and containerization, including Airflow and Docker.
• Strong written and spoken English and availability to work from the Berlin office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with stream processing or real-time systems such as Kafka or Flink.
• Experience with modern BI tools such as Looker or Superset.
• Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation, including GitHub Actions.
• Experience with web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
