Expert Data Engineer (Databricks)

What you will do

• Collaborate with clients to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of Databricks data platforms using Delta Lake, workflows, jobs, and cluster management.
• Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Improve data quality, governance, security, processing performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers while mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices.

Requirements

• Hands-on expertise with Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark, workflows, jobs, and Unity Catalog.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience writing clean and maintainable code.
• Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS, lakehouse and data warehousing architectures, and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Databricks Workflows, or dbt.
• Experience with software engineering practices, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and DevOps.
• Several years of professional data engineering experience, preferably in client-facing consulting roles, plus a relevant university degree.
• Fluent German and English communication skills are required.
