Operations Shift Lead (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands. Onsite role with a structured rotating schedule: two morning shifts from 07:00–15:00 followed by two evening shifts from 15:00–23:00, including weekends.

Base pay: €53,500–€85,445 per year, plus a shift allowance and eligible bonus.

What you will do

• Lead shift teams and coordinate daily production activities for ingredient and new product processing.
• Lead the emergency response team and act as Building Captain to support employee safety and preparedness.
• Apply and promote SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices, and company policies to maintain compliant operations.
• Monitor operational plans, conduct Gemba walks and spot checks, and remove workflow roadblocks.
• Prioritize resources and serve as the first escalation point within Operations while collaborating with other departments and external partners.
• Identify and implement process improvements while maintaining visual management standards for safety, quality, cost, and scheduling.

Requirements

• Leadership experience with the ability to lead teams and manage emergency response responsibilities.
• Practical knowledge of SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Experience with operational planning, prioritization, and resource management in a production or operations environment.
• Ability to conduct Gemba walks, spot checks, and basic trend and data analysis.
• Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies and experience implementing improvement initiatives.
• Strong ownership of training, documentation, visual management, and stakeholder communication.
