Senior Accountant (Life Sciences)

Location: Menlo Park, California, United States; onsite Monday–Thursday and work from home on Friday

Salary: $112,000–$168,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, analyses, audit schedules, financial statement disclosures, and SEC reporting schedules.
• Own accounting for construction in progress, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and intangible assets.
• Apply US GAAP and internal accounting policies to transactions, contracts, and technical accounting matters.
• Support fixed asset guidance, training, physical counts, purchase requisition reviews, and capitalization assessments.
• Improve accounting procedures, internal controls, operational efficiency, and SOX compliance processes.

Requirements

• Current authorization to work in the United States without present or future sponsorship.
• Five or more years of relevant corporate accounting or public accounting audit experience with increasing responsibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience with SAP or another robust ERP system and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of the 2013 COSO framework and experience supporting SOX compliance and operational efficiency.
• Strong technical, analytical, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and process improvement skills.

Nice to have

• Fixed assets accounting experience.
• Completed or in-progress CPA designation.
• Experience at a publicly traded company or in the life science, healthcare, or technology industries.
