Principal/Managing Director (Technology Value Creation)

Location: Hong Kong

What you will do

• Lead technology value creation across Carlyle’s Asia Buyout portfolio in partnership with portfolio management teams, deal teams, and GPS functional leaders.
• Develop and execute technology roadmaps covering transformations, carve-outs, acquisitions, modernization, platform consolidation, and cloud migration.
• Advise portfolio company technology leaders on technology spend, operating models, organizational design, vendor management, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Create technology case studies, playbooks, frameworks, assessments, and reference architectures for use across the portfolio.
• Lead technology leadership summits, webinars, and peer forums for portfolio company technology executives.
• Support investment diligence and value creation planning by assessing architecture, product maturity, scalability, engineering capabilities, and technical debt.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of professional experience as a technology executive, senior practitioner, or leader in a top-tier technology consulting or advisory firm.
• Deep expertise in product engineering, software architecture, infrastructure modernization, digital transformation, and AI/ML adoption.
• Experience leading complex technology transformation programs and designing technology operating models, including onshore/offshore structures and platform teams.
• Track record of translating technology investments into revenue growth, cost reduction, margin expansion, or enterprise value creation.
• Familiarity with private equity deal cycles, value creation planning, and PE-backed management teams.
• Ability to influence CTO, CIO, CPO, CFO, COO, and CEO stakeholders, advise on cyber incidents, and build technology partner ecosystems.
