Chemical Operations Technician (Powder Blending)

Location: Hollister, California, United States; onsite indoor and outdoor work. Day shift: 10 hours per day, 4 days per week, with overtime availability.

Salary: $19.33–$35.83 per hour, plus performance-based quarterly bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Handle and process explosive powders, propellants, energetic compositions, and solvent wastes in accordance with safety and standard operating procedures.
• Break down dry, wet, initiating, and non-initiating explosives into production and analysis increments.
• Mix nitrocellulose lacquers, wash methanol-based energetics and raw materials, and screen energetic materials.
• Support powder blending operations through material delivery, inventory control, documentation, and cleanup of spilled energetic powder.
• Maintain material traceability labels, inventory logs, job-time records, process checklists, and transport documentation.
• Participate in process hazards analysis, daily management meetings, 5S activities, FOD control, and process-documentation updates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of demonstrated experience safely handling a variety of explosive materials.
• Ability and willingness to work with bulk quantities of explosives and complete accurate documentation.
• Ability to read written instructions, perform basic arithmetic, prioritize multiple formulations, and interact effectively across the organization.
• Must be a U.S. Person or be able to obtain required U.S. government export authorizations; ongoing employment depends on authorization.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds and stand, stoop, and walk intermittently while wearing personal protective equipment; must pass a full-face respirator fit test and be clean-shaven.

Nice to have

• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to receive forklift training and certification.
• Ability to train Chemical Technician Level One staff.
