Director, Field Medical - CentralUnited States (Biopharma)

Location: Remote field role covering the Central United States, with approximately 60–70% travel within the assigned region.

Salary: $205,000–$295,000 annual base salary for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead compliant peer-to-peer scientific exchange with physicians, renal pathologists, PKU specialists, and key opinion leaders across the region.
• Build regional KOL relationships and provide scientific education on AMKD, FSGS, CKD, PKU, APOL1 biology, and SLC6A19 substrate reduction.
• Serve as the regional scientific partner for HORIZON, MZE829, and MZE782 clinical trials, supporting investigators, sites, feasibility, start-up, enrollment, and retention.
• Advance APOL1 genotyping and genotype-driven patient identification pathways, while addressing trust and access barriers affecting trial participation.
• Capture treatment patterns, unmet needs, evidence gaps, and competitive intelligence to inform medical strategy, evidence generation, and launch readiness.
• Help recruit, mentor, and develop MSLs as the field medical organization expands.

Requirements

• Advanced scientific degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of Medical Affairs, Field Medical, Clinical Development, or related biopharmaceutical experience.
• Demonstrated success building KOL relationships and leading peer-to-peer scientific exchange.
• Accountability for site engagement and clinical trial enrollment, not only scientific presentations.
• Deep scientific fluency and credibility with academic specialists.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60–70% within the assigned Central United States region.

Nice to have

• Nephrology expertise and established relationships in the kidney community.
• Pre-commercial or first-launch biotechnology experience.
• Experience with genotype-driven patient identification and diagnostic testing pathways.
• Experience mentoring MSLs or leading congress and scientific-platform initiatives.
