Associate Director, Commercial Data Science (AI)

Location: Flexible commuter role to the Thousand Oaks, California office; on-site at least 2 days per week

What you will do

• Define and execute the Commercial AI and advanced analytics roadmap across business units.
• Identify and prioritize high-value AI and analytics opportunities based on business value, strategic alignment, readiness, and return on investment.
• Lead a portfolio of AI, machine learning, generative AI, and advanced analytics initiatives from strategy through production deployment and adoption.
• Provide technical oversight for predictive modeling, customer targeting, next-best-action, causal inference, optimization, and production-grade AI products.
• Partner with commercial, marketing, medical, digital, technology, data engineering, and external vendor stakeholders.
• Lead, coach, and develop data scientists while establishing technical standards, governance, and responsible AI practices.

Requirements

• Doctorate with 3 years, master’s degree with 7 years, bachelor’s degree with 9 years, associate degree with 12 years, or high school diploma/GED with 14 years of experience in a quantitative field.
• At least 3 years of people management or leadership experience directing teams, projects, programs, or resources.
• Experience leading cross-functional AI, analytics, or data science initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
• Deep knowledge of AI, machine learning, generative AI, optimization, causal inference, modern data science, MLOps, model governance, and production deployment.
• Experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Databricks, AWS, Azure, or similar, plus programming experience in Python, R, Scala, Java, or similar languages.
• Ability to work on-site in Thousand Oaks, California at least 2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Bio/pharmaceutical commercial experience.
• Experience with omnichannel engagement, customer targeting, market access, patient analytics, field effectiveness, and healthcare data such as claims, specialty pharmacy, and EMR data.
• Experience influencing executive stakeholders and driving organizational change.
