Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakland, California, with work performed from a remote office and an assigned work location according to business needs and company requirements.

Salary: $126,000–$200,000 per year, with a typical expected range around the $126,000 minimum and $163,000 midpoint. The role is also eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the design and delivery of machine learning, statistical modeling, and Generative AI solutions for customer experience and other high-value business challenges.
• Analyze complex structured and unstructured customer, billing, operational, and survey data to produce actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
• Build, deploy, and continuously improve predictive models, AI applications, automated data pipelines, chatbots, and other scalable AI-enabled capabilities.
• Design and evaluate experiments, including A/B tests, to measure business impact and guide decisions.
• Partner with business stakeholders, channel teams, and domain experts to identify opportunities and support data-informed decisions.
• Communicate analytical findings through documentation, visualizations, storytelling, and executive-ready presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of job-related experience, or 3 years with a master’s degree, or a doctorate degree.
• Experience with Python and SQL.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques including clustering, decision tree learning, and artificial neural networks, including their practical advantages and limitations.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Oakland, California arrangement from a remote office and assigned work location as required.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in a related discipline.
• Utility industry or customer analytics experience.
• Experience with Teradata, Oracle, and Power BI.
• Experience applying Generative AI to business challenges and automating machine learning and Generative AI pipelines.
• Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate technical insights clearly to stakeholders.
