Data Analyst, Stewardship (Financial Markets)

Location: Hybrid schedule in the Chicago or Houston office; remote work may be possible for the right candidate. Hours are 10:30am–7:30pm Central time, including non-traditional evening coverage.

Annual base salary: $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Monitor and support end-of-day valuation data and PnL production, including evening coverage for global support windows.
• Create, update, and troubleshoot financial instrument reference data in response to requests from global users.
• Investigate data behavior by tracing issues through source systems, feeds, and business logic.
• Diagnose production data problems, assess downstream impact, and develop ad-hoc scripts or tooling for rapid resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering and Data Management teams on systemic issues and recurring support problems.
• Design monitoring tools and governance controls to prevent repetitive data issues from affecting users.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL and Python, including hands-on experience troubleshooting data issues and writing ad-hoc production scripts.
• Understanding of financial instruments, markets, reference data, and valuation data.
• Experience building data governance rules or controls and writing runbook procedures.
• Ability to investigate complex issues, assess impact, and work calmly under production pressure.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical users through Slack and email.
• Ability to work the required 10:30am–7:30pm Central time schedule.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal and Bloomberg Excel API plug-in.
• Exposure to S3, Athena, or Bloomberg back-office files.
