Software Engineer II, AI

Location: Remote in the Czech Republic or Europe; travel 1–2 times per quarter for in-person team gatherings, mostly within Europe.

What you will do

• Own Voice AI agent capabilities from discovery and experimentation through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and impact measurement.
• Build and improve real-time voice agents that triage alerts, handle non-emergency calls, and provide multilingual translation.
• Improve latency, turn-taking, barge-in behavior, speech recognition, protocol adherence, and call transfers using production evidence and reproducible experiments.
• Design fail-safe behaviors, improve resilience and observability, and contribute to production incident analysis, mitigation, and prevention.
• Build automated evaluations, call-replay tools, production metrics, and controlled traffic trials to identify regressions and quantify trade-offs.
• Work across Python backend services, AI model behavior, React/TypeScript interfaces, and cloud infrastructure while using AI tools for coding, testing, call analysis, and incident triage.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of back-end or full-stack engineering experience delivering production software end to end.
• Hands-on experience building AI or LLM applications, with solid distributed systems, API, and operational reliability fundamentals.
• Strong Python proficiency, including asynchronous programming, and the ability to work with TypeScript and React or learn them.
• Ability to evaluate non-deterministic AI behavior using datasets, automated metrics, qualitative call reviews, controlled experiments, and statistical reasoning.
• Product-minded ownership, clear written and verbal communication, collaborative execution, and careful decision-making for safety-sensitive systems.
• Willingness to participate in a weekly on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time voice, streaming media, or conversational agents.
• Previous TypeScript and React experience.
