Senior iOS Engineer (Media Experience)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States

Base salary: $190,800–$267,100 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position.

What you will do

• Lead the iOS architecture and technical strategy for video discovery and consumption features.
• Design and build immersive viewing surfaces and intuitive UI/UX flows that improve watch time, retention, and video engagement.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, media infrastructure, backend, Feeds, and ML ranking teams.
• Use rapid prototyping, A/B testing, performance signals, retention data, and Quality of Experience metrics to guide product decisions.
• Translate HLS streaming and personalized recommendation capabilities into polished iOS experiences.
• Establish best practices for media integration, complex media lifecycles, app stability, and rendering performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on iOS development experience.
• Proven experience building user-facing native iOS applications at scale with Swift.
• Experience optimizing video player performance or building products on top of AVFoundation and VideoToolbox.
• Strong understanding of experimentation, funnels, business metrics, retention, and QoE measurement.
• Ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives and communicate complex trade-offs to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Ability to work in the United States; the role is based in San Francisco, CA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with HTTP Live Streaming (HLS).
• Experience integrating iOS media features with recommendation or feed systems.
