Sustainability Advisor

Location: Anaheim, California, USA; onsite work with customer visits, events, trade shows, facility tours, and community outreach

Salary: $70,304–$89,200 per year, depending on hiring locality

What you will do

• Develop and implement recycling, food waste, and diversion education programs for schools, businesses, customers, and community groups.
• Monitor commercial and special-event recycling programs and recommend educational and service improvements.
• Perform commercial waste audits, waste assessments, and waste characterization studies, then prepare customer reports with findings and recommendations.
• Coordinate collection schedule guidance with Operations and maintain customer activity records and reporting calendars.
• Analyze food waste recycling tonnage and outreach activity data for accuracy, trends, and contractual reporting.
• Represent recycling and diversion programs at community events, trade shows, chamber meetings, facility tours, and customer meetings.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role involving identification and resolution of customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, active listening, organization, time management, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and build effective relationships with customers, officials, community groups, and business groups.
• Ability to work directly with customers through telephone communication, onsite visits, events, and educational programs.

• Experience in communications, business, economic, or professional outreach activities.
• Experience managing websites and using social media.
• Experience researching grants and other funding sources for recycling and waste reduction projects.
• Experience motivating employees to participate in community events.
