Product Engineer Intern (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Crane Aerospace & Electronics develops aerospace and industrial products, including fluoropolymer-lined fluid handling components.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain fluoropolymer-lined fluid handling products and related manufacturing processes.
• Perform hands-on computer-aided design, prototyping, testing, optimization, and design updates.
• Lead assigned new product development projects, including project management, reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
• Work with customers, suppliers, vendors, and internal engineering teams to define needs, materials, applications, and design solutions.
• Support quality improvement initiatives using DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, process capability studies, Six Sigma tools, 3P, and kaizen.
• Ensure product development and engineering changes meet applicable ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PED, API Spec. Q1, and API 6D requirements.

Requirements

• Full-time, onsite position in Marion, North Carolina, United States.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Product design and development expertise, including manufacturing process development.
• Strong project management, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate with customers, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Collaborative approach combined with individual initiative.

Nice to have

• Five to seven years of manufacturing and product development experience.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and experimental design.
• Plastics processing experience, particularly with fluoropolymers.
• Experience with machining, welding, or metal forming.
