Principal Quality Engineer (AI)

Location: Boston, United States; hybrid schedule requiring two days per week in the office

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 per year, plus a performance-based bonus

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of automation frameworks using Playwright, Cucumber, and TypeScript.
• Establish an automation-first approach across UI, API, integration, and regression testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Define test strategies, quality gates, defect triage practices, test data standards, mocking, and service virtualization.
• Apply AI-driven methods for test generation, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics.
• Guide scrum teams and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Security on continuous testing and quality improvement.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software test automation or software engineering, including 5+ years in a principal or lead role.
• Deep hands-on expertise with TypeScript, Playwright, Cucumber, and modern automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native application testing, and DevOps-aligned QA workflows.
• Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch and scaling them across teams and applications.
• Understanding of performance testing, API testing, test observability, Agile or SAFe practices, and quality metrics.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
